5 Movements to do After a Day of Sitting

Let’s face it, a lot of our daily activities involve sitting. Whether you are working from your desk, driving, watching TV, or doing a combo of these, you are most likely spending a lot of time sitting. You may notice after a day of sitting your shoulders are rolled forward, you are sinking into your seat, and you feel stiff and sluggish.

Coach Neil selected 5 C.A.R.s (Controlled Articular Rotations) to help counter sitting. What is a C.A.R.? It is moving a joint through the maximum controlled range of motion with as much tension as possible. The goal is to increase mobility through active rotation movements at the outer limits of your range of motion.

Here’s another way that Coach Neil likes to break it down:

Controlled: Purposeful, deliberate, and smooth
Articular: Dealing with articulations AKA joints
Rotations: Rotational movements, ideally through end ranges of motion

While there are numerous C.A.R.s that you can do, Neil selected five:
1. Neck
2. Scapula
3. Shoulder
4. Spine
5. Hips

Remember, you are the CEO of your body and you should never move through pain. Check out these movements and let us know what you think.
