Member Spotlight: Tish Brown

We are very excited to feature Tish Brown for our Member Spotlight this month.  Tish has been a part of our Fit Fam for over 3 years where you can consistently find her in one of our afternoon classes.  We asked Tish to share a little bit about herself before coming to Forward Fitness and this is what she shared, “I’m that down to earth, likes to put a smile on your face person that was born and raised in Kirkwood, Webster Groves.  I attended Kirkwood school district from Kindergarten through High School. I was always that active young girl running around, jumping rope and loved going roller skating every weekend with friends. While at Kirkwood I was a cheerleader for football and basketball and ran track and field as a sprinter (no long distance stuff). After college you could always find me in a gym or belonging to some type of fitness program.”

Tish shared this about why she joined Forward Fitness, “I moved and wanted to find a new place to workout at. I got on google and came across F.F. I remembered thinking I used to work at a facility very similar to FF and liked it. I reached out, met with Suzanne and the rest is history.  I love being a member of FF!”

When thinking about why health and fitness are important, she shared, “My health and fitness have always been important to me because I wanted to look good and feel good. When I’m active my energy level increases as well as my mental wellbeing.  My overall daily functioning is so much better too.”  She had this to say about keeping fitness a part of her life, “It has been easy for me to keep fitness a part of my life because I enjoy doing it! When I have a great support system that makes it easy to stay committed, it’s a win win situation. Doing activities that I wouldn’t have done on my own.”

Tish said this about challenges that she has faced, “My challenge is hitting that plateau or lack of progress. Just when I think I’m doing good or I can do more.  My body tells me, no. It’s frustrating. What I do for my career plays a huge part in this setback. I’m doing mobility classes and other things outside of FF to overcome this. I’m patient and I know it takes time.”

But she also had this to say about accomplishments she is proud of, “I walked my first hike with FF. Looking forward to more!”

Tish has this advice for anyone thinking about adding a fitness routine to their life, “I would say just go and do it. Focus on starting small, being consistent and listening to your body. Any movement is good!”

Tish mentioned her career when she talked about challenges, her fun fact is, “I perform ultrasound of the heart. I’ve been looking at peoples Hearts for years! Heart disease is my biggest WHY!”

Thank you Tish for being such a wonderful part of our Fit Fam and for taking time to share a little more about yourself with us!  Can’t wait to see you on the next hike!
