November Member Spotlight: Kati Bonesteel

Our member spotlight for November is Kati Bonesteel.  Kati joined our Fit Fam in March of this year and if you haven’t had the chance to meet her yet, you are missing out. She is outgoing, friendly and shows up to every class with a smile and positive attitude.

Kati was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and moved to St. Louis in November of 2013. She still has family in Illinois but now has friend here that have become family. She loves animals and currently has 2 dogs and 2 cats. For hobbies she enjoys reading, wine, whiskey, spending time with friends, cooking and being outside. She enjoys gardening but says that she has a black thumb.  Kati also puts ketchup on her hotdogs which we all know would get her kicked out of a ballpark in Chicago. She is most proud of her family, home and completing grad school while working full time.

Health and fitness are important to Kati for a few reasons. She has always loved being active and wants to stay as mobile and strong as she can as she gets older. When she was younger, daily activity was just what she did, whether it was gymnastics, dance class or swim lessons, she was always doing something. That drive to stay active has stayed with her and she says that she feels more balanced when she is regularly active. Mentally, she feels better and thinks more clearly after a workout. “It really helps after a crazy day at work to get it out at the gym”.

Earlier this year she had a shoulder/neck injury that was a result of sleeping the wrong way but took months to resolve. As she said, ” talk about a yep I’m getting older injury!”  After a month of not being able to turn her head, she found a fantastic chiropractic office and kept working out with modifications and then got better quickly. Now she has been feeling great and is finally starting to feel that she is getting stronger.

Kati had this to say about why she joined Forward Fitness. “When I came in for the first time to meet with Suzanne, I really liked how she had taken the time to welcome me and find out about my health and fitness goals.  The atmosphere here at Forward Fitness is amazing – the trainers are really helpful and genuinely care about all of us, and the folks in class encourage each other.”

Currently Kati is participating in the Habit Challenge and she had this to share about the challenge, “I absolutely love the Habit Challenge- it has really stepped up my fitness routine AND made me a lot more mindful of my daily habits that are impacting me outside of the gym. I know it’s a lot of work for the trainers, but I would love the opportunity to do the Challenge a few times a year. Adding the SP’s to my routine has really been a game changer, and it allows me more flexibility to get in a workout with my busy work schedule. I have a feeling I might be adding the SP option to my current plan in the near future!”

What she would say to someone considering adding fitness to their routine. “Do it! You don’t have to start big, you just have to start.”
